planning and constructing of a multifunctional communication furniture
supervisor - Volker Hagen & Albin Gitschthaler
collaboration - Sophia Eder
The desire of the building owner to create a space that has room for relaxation and retreat as well as communication was fulfilled through a multifunctional piece of upholstered furniture. The form of the seating area resulted from the nautilus shell whose proportions are arranged in a golden ratio. The seating ensemble consists of six segments. The three bigger elements are integrated units and hold a removable backrest, the three smaller elements are flexible. By arranging the bigger elements next to each other and removing the backrest, a bed surface for two people can be formed. A stone slab converts the smallest element into a coffee table, the two remaining segments function as stools
